Can I use Collegeboxes services if I live off-campus?
Yes. If you live within two miles of campus, we can pick up and deliver to your address. Contact us to have your address added. Reminder – We can also ship items to your off-campus residence.
Are my items protected against damage or loss?
Yes. We provide $100 worth of valuation per shipped or stored item. We strongly recommend the purchase of additional valuation in cases where the replacement value of your possessions exceeds $100 per package. Additional valuation can be purchased by indicating the desired amount of declared value when you enter the item on your inventory form online.
Can parents create accounts for students?
Yes. Parents can create an account under their student’s name. In addition, parents can add inventory and print labels for their student. The Collegeboxes system will communicate directly to students, reminding them of pickup/delivery times and service dates.
Can I use your service when transferring to schools?
Yes. When transferring schools, you can use either our Ship to School service or Direct Shipping service. Ship to School is ideal when you need items shipped and stored temporarily before delivery. Collegeboxes will deliver on the date you choose. However, if you just need shipping, choose Direct Shipping, and have your belongings picked up by FedEx and shipped directly to your new residence.

Does Collegeboxes partner with schools?
Yes. Collegeboxes partners with colleges and boarding schools. These partnerships vary by school but include additional services at no extra cost. These services frequently include pre-arrival delivery (items delivered to student rooms before they arrive on campus), post move-out pickup, and other contactless delivery and pickup options.
When will my items be picked up or delivered?
Items are picked up and delivered on the date that you choose in your Collegeboxes account. Collegeboxes offers free pickup and delivery on all posted dates. If you need special pickup or delivery on a date that is not posted, you will be charged a special pickup/delivery fee.
Pricing and Payment
How much does the Collegeboxes service cost?
The cost for storage starts at $40 per item per semester/summer. The average cost for summer storage is $260 and includes door-to-door pickup and delivery of your boxes and other items. View our complete storage price list.
Shipping prices are based on the package dimensions and weight, and distance you are shipping. A typical domestic shipment costs between $30 and $70 per item.
If you need supplies, we offer a Supply Kit for $39.99 (+tax) that includes: 5 double walled boxes (24”x16”x18”), 1 roll of tape, 1 marker, 5 zip ties, 10 label pouches and shipping to you.
What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept all major credit and debit cards. No cash or checks. Payment for moving supplies is taken when the Supply Kit is shipped. Shipped items are charged once in transit with FedEx, and stored items are charged when they are placed into a storage room.
Storage and Shipping
Where are my items stored?
Your items are stored at U-Haul self-storage locations and professionally managed storage warehouses within driving distance of each campus we serve. You always have access to your belongings.
Do you offer extended storage (more than one semester)?
Yes. We store your belongings for as long as you need. Whether studying abroad or taking a semester away, we will continue to store your items at the same rate per semester. Your credit card will be charged automatically at the end of each payment term.
What items can I store?
We can store just about anything that a student has in their dorm room, like boxes, furniture, sports equipment, appliances, bikes, fans, and more. If our college movers can pick it up, we can store it. This does not include combustible items, toxic materials, perishables, live plants, weapons, or wet items.
Can I ship internationally?
Yes. We ship via FedEx international Economy Air. Shipping internationally can be a tedious task, but the good news is that Collegeboxes shipping team will prepare all required labels and customs documentation and email it to you. Shipments can be tracked though FedEx.com. Receive a price estimate by completing a shipping inquiry form.
Boxes and Supplies
Am I required to use your boxes?
No. You can use your own boxes if you prefer. However, using our Collegeboxes is highly recommended, as our boxes are designed for shipping and multiple uses. Learn more about our Supply/Starter Kit.
If you use your own boxes, keep in mind that boxes need to fit through doorways. The largest box size we suggest for storage is 24” x 24” x 24”. The largest box size we suggest for shipping is 24” x 16” x 18” and it should be double-walled.
How many boxes do I need?
Most customers find the five double-walled boxes (24” x 18” x 16”) included in our Supply/Starter Kit sufficient, however, feel free to order as many kits as you like. Learn more about what you can fit in one of our Collegeboxes. You can also use your own boxes in addition to our Supply/Starter Kit
How many boxes come in the Collegeboxes Supply Kit?
The kit includes 5 double-walled boxes (24” x 16” x 18”), roll of tape, marker, 5 zip ties, and 10 label pouches. The Supply Kit Box (36” x 24” x 7”) is an ideal box for packing framed artwork, skateboards, clocks, and other uniquely-shaped items.
When will you ship my Supply Kit?
Within two weeks of your pickup date. Once shipped, Supply Kits typically arrive in 3-4 business days. An earlier shipment can be accommodated. Call us or chat with us to change the shipment date.
