Where is Assumption University?
The 185-acre campus is found in Worcester, Massachusetts. Also known as the “Heart of the Commonwealth” for being in the center of Massachusetts and a quick trip to Boston and Providence. It’s the second largest city in New England. Worcester is a five-time recipient of the All-America City Award, which recognizes the work of communities in using inclusive civic engagement to address critical issues and create stronger connections among residents, businesses, and nonprofit and government leaders from the National Civic League.
Worcester has a little bit of everything. Assumption University is one of 12 colleges in the city. Elm Park in Worcester is one of the oldest public parks in the United States, if not the oldest. You’ll also be welcomed into the city by Orson, a giant inflatable polar bear that is the iconic mascot for Polar Beverages.
What is Assumption University known for?
Assumption University is known for its prestige far past Worcester. The school has its own campus in Rome, Italy. The Rome campus let’s students explore issues around religion, politics, and history.
The college’s full-time faculty are there for guidance and instruction. Only 25 students participate each semester, making it a very selective process but one worth the effort. The school’s study abroad program is ranked in the Top 20 by LendEDU.
The Wall Street Journal/ Times Higher Education ranked Assumption in the top half of colleges in the country. Forbes ranked the school among the Top Colleges in America. Despite only having around 2,000 students enrolled, Assumption was lauded for its community service offerings, it’s Campus Ministry partnership with organizations like Big Brother/Big Sisters, Elm Park Community School and Worcester Housing Authority: as well as Assumption’s 12 annual service trips and five service clubs, providing students with ample volunteer opportunities.
